"Trouble in the air is very rare. It is hitting the ground that causes it." -- Amelia Earhart

In 1928, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to travel by airplane across the Atlantic Ocean. She was a passenger, and she wrote about the journey in the 1928 memoir 20 Hrs. 40 Min. That book has entered the public domain.

This tabletop game imagines a much more leisurely journey, where you stop at one island a day for eight days, before reaching the other side on day nine. Of course, you might go wrong and end up in the Bermuda Triangle.

On these islands, you'll help local residents with farmers markets, model airplane shows, labor unions, local theater, car repair, stunt flying, making clothes, night school, field day, and more. (Amelia had a lot of talents.) In turn, they'll offer you horseback riding, dancing, swimming, local animals, and a LOT of ham sandwiches. You'll also collaborate with your group to design materials for your journey, like a coat of arms, mission statement, and pithy motto for the press.

Lush two-color pixel art of Amelia, the Friendship, and over 20 island illustrations for you to play with. The game includes 25 prewritten islands, and will eventually include an island generator for you to create more of your own.

This game is for all ages. It has some food content.

I relied on Paint of Persia to make art for this game. It's a great tool!

You can find Amelia's book here.

I added some iconic island maps to the illustrations -- can you spot them? Their names are also based on real aviators.

The public domain is vital to creation and innovation in the arts. For more about that, check out an article from Duke University's Center for the Study of the Public Domain. Corporations try to fight the public domain, and we can't let them.
